Ecocem announces the appointment of Pat Cox as its chairperson

Low carbon cement company Ecocem has appointed former president of the European Parliament Pat Cox as chair of Ecocem Group.
Pat Cox is the current chair of the Finance Green Ireland Committee, is chairing the inaugural Dublin Climate Dialogues this year, and is also chair of the Gore Street Energy Storage Fund – the first-ever listed fund for grid-scale battery storage by the London Stock Exchange.
His roles as a board member of Supernode, an Irish renewables high tech start-up, and Gresham House Ireland further demonstrate his commitment to the sector and strong personal focus on ESG and impact investment.

100 new jobs to be created as CJK acquires McGrattan & Kenny to form €45m M&E engineering group

Following discussions between the owners of two of Ireland’s best-known engineering companies, CJK has acquired McGrattan & Kenny and will form a new mechanical & electrical engineering services group to compete in the rapidly expanding sector. The formation of the new group will create an additional 100 new jobs over three years, bringing the total complement to 360 people by 2024.

Irish Green Building Council call for immediate, drastic action on climate change

The Irish Green Building Council (IGBC) is calling on the government to take immediate, drastic action on climate change.
The call comes as the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s (IPCC) sixth assessment report highlighting that climate change is widespread, rapid, and intensifying was released
According to the 234 scientists who authored the report, strong, rapid, and sustained reductions in greenhouse gas emissions, and reaching net-zero CO2 emissions is required to stabilize the climate.
