– Nuron launch coincides with Hilti’s investment in a new Nuron Customer Experience Centre and Tool Service Centre at its Dublin HQ

Hilti Group has announced the launch of an innovation that will provide the construction industry with a fully-connected tool park experience.

Hilti Nuron battery platform

Nuron is a new powerful 22V cordless battery platform, and Hilti will launch the platform in Ireland with more than 70 tools from the start of October.

Nuron is not just a new set of tools or batteries; it is the future of Hilti’s cordless offering, with the power to make job sites cordless across both light and heavy applications. Launching with an entire ecosystem of 70 new cordless tools and a re-engineered all-on-one 22V battery platform, Hilti is set to change the cordless experience for the construction industry forever.

Hilti has supported construction and engineering activities in Ireland since 1965. Its sales and customer support teams, totalling 130 people, work directly with construction professionals at job sites and from its four stores in Ballymount and Docklands in Dublin, as well as Cork, Belfast, and at its HQ in Finglas, Dublin.

New Hilti customer experience centre

To support the launch of the Nuron platform in Ireland, Hilti has invested in a new customer experience centre at its HQ in Finglas. This new centre will allow construction professionals to learn about the Nuron platform, its performance, safety and data capabilities, and to experience the full range of Hilti cordless tools – powered by Nuron – in practical use settings.

Damien Schmutz, General Manager of Hilti Ireland, commented: “We are very excited to bring the Nuron platform to our customers in Ireland. From customer feedback on what kind of innovations they would find useful, we know this will make a huge difference to their operations in many ways. We are proud to deliver the most comprehensive solutions to solving some of the bottlenecks at construction sites today, increasing productivity, and introducing state-of-the-art data-driven solutions that will also improve health and safety at the construction.”

Nuron development

Nuron arrives on the market on the back of years of deep research and is based on an in-depth understanding of construction activities and the industry. One of the most important aspects of developing the new platform was understanding the everyday working conditions of customers, including the roadblocks and obstacles they face in their work.

Nuron value proposition

Nuron’s primary value proposition is split into four key areas of innovation. Firstly, the power of one, which sees all tools powered by one single source, the 22V battery, making all batteries interchangeable and compatible with the full Nuron roster of tools. One platform reduces the need for multiple batteries, chargers and corded power sources that are usually found on construction sites. This makes using tools and their management much more streamlined.

The second area of innovation is performance in that these cordless tools provide more power than even corded or gas-powered tools, thanks to the re-engineered batteries of the Nuron platform. The 22-volt cordless platform delivers high performance, which also enables heavy-duty applications that were once restricted to corded, gas-powered or higher voltage battery systems. The wholly redesigned battery now delivers significantly higher power transfer than corded mains, resulting in higher performance.

The third and fourth areas of improvement are health and safety and the data-driven services linking all Hilti tools to the cloud. The redesigned tools use real-world insights to improve the design and health and safety aspects of the tools. From a practical perspective, tools have been redesigned to weigh less, with ergonomically enhanced grips and improved robustness through shock-resistant bumpers.

Hilti’s Dust Removal System (DRS) and Active Torque Control (ATC) are available on the Nuron platform with relevant tools. Active Vibration Reduction (AVR), another key health protection and comfort feature has been expanded to many more tools within the Nuron portfolio.

Sebastiaan Groenhuijsen, Head of Product Marketing Northern Europe, Hilti, comments: “We want to provide construction professionals with the best tools and solutions available so that they can get on with what they do best, building society’s future infrastructure and doing it in a safe and efficient way.

“By linking all Hilti tools to the cloud, we bring our tools into the digital age. By transmitting data to the cloud, our customers can use ON!Track to improve tool park performance and productivity and keep track of tools via tags, ensuring nothing gets misplaced or lost. The data collected includes tool usage, charging location and battery state-of-health, ensuring operators work with batteries in optimal conditions. All this information and insight can be used to manage a better functioning and fit-for-purpose tool park.”

Hilti tool servicing

Hilti has re-orientated its tool servicing offering in Ireland by establishing a full-service centre for the first time. Prior to this, Hilti tools were sent to its service centres in either Paris or Glasgow. Once established, the full range of Hilti tools will be serviced in Ireland with a guaranteed three-day turn-around and full availability of replacement tools to ensure the work continues.
