The winner of the Plastering and DryWall competition, sponsored by Gyproc, at the recent WorldSkills National Finals at the RDS Dublin, was James Sheehan from Waterford.

The WorldSkills Ireland National finals took place at the RDS between the 15 and 17 September 2022.

WorldSkills Ireland 2022 is a partnership between enterprise, industry, education, training and government that raises the profile and recognition of skills and apprenticeships and prepares the talent of today for the careers of the future.
Believing that ‘skills drive the future’, WorldSkills know that choosing careers is one of the most important decisions a young person will make. So, where do young students go to get hands-on experience and learn about skills-based careers?
​​Over three action-packed days, WorldSkills Ireland fostered an atmosphere of experimentation and discovery through competitions, interactive events and demonstrations.

Plastering and Drywall national competition James Sheehan from Waterford is 22 years of age and works for Moore’s Plastering, a Kilkenny-based company. James completed Phase 2 of his plastering apprenticeship in Waterford ETB, more recently his Phase 4 in Munster Technical University (MTU). He is currently waiting to be called for Phase 6.
