Temporary works supplier MH International recently announced the expansion of its operations with the opening of a depot in Portlaoise – a major move for the company. Here, we talk with Wayne Fisher, International Business Development Director at MH International, to learn more about the move, what it means for the business and how they will be supporting the Irish construction industry.

Q) The opening of the new Ireland depot marks an exciting time for MH International. Can you tell us more about what this means for the company?

It’s certainly a landmark moment! Already since joining MH International, I’ve seen incredible momentum as we work towards our goal of becoming a globally trusted construction partner, building lasting relationships through exceptional delivery and innovation. The opening of the Portlaoise depot is just the latest example of this in action.

As a major investment for us as a company, I think the move serves to demonstrate our commitment to growth and to supporting the Irish construction and infrastructure sectors. It’s an exciting next step for us as a business.

Q) Why did MH International decide to open a new depot in Ireland?

We already had a strong presence in the Irish market, but by opening this dedicated depot, we’re starting a new chapter as a company.

Our decision to establish a strong physical presence and base in Ireland comes in response to a period of sustained business growth across the entire region, as well as an increasing demand for specialist temporary works solutions. It’s my belief that this depot will allow us to provide faster and more tailored support to both new and existing customers in the region, elevating our service levels and forging stronger relationships with customers.

Q) How will the new depot benefit the industry?

Our aim is to help our customers build with confidence. While the temporary works equipment is obviously an essential part of this, we believe that on-hand support and working with our customers at each stage of their project is just as important.

Having a centralised hub in Ireland not only ensures quicker site deliveries and easier access to our comprehensive portfolio of temporary works solutions, but it also means customers can readily access localised support and a first-class service. With a dedicated ‘on the ground’ sales and support team, customers can benefit from our end-to-end service offering, spanning in-house design, supply, installation and real-time monitoring.

It’s a really exciting time, both for us at MH International but also our customers.

Q) Ireland’s construction sector is reaching a busy point, with significant investment into new and upgraded infrastructure planned. How can MH International support this?

There’s a lot of investment currently being made into Ireland’s built environment and infrastructure. For example, the National Development Plan 2018-2027 sets out Ireland’s largest ever investment in public infrastructure, with ten National Strategic Outcomes (NSO) and a total estimated investment of €116 billion over the period.

While temporary works is often the unsung hero of the construction industry, it really does have an integral role to play in the safe delivery of all these landmark projects. With over 60 years of engineering experience, including working on major projects across the building, utilities and transport sectors, we are well placed to support contractors with these proposed works.
