Kirby Group Engineering outlook
Kirby is focusing on strong, sustainable growth for the coming years through a combination of maintaining existing high-value client relationships and exploring new opportunities in Ireland and across Europe. Central to this strategy is the investment in rapidly evolving technology that continuously builds on their client offering.
Centre of excellence for digitisation
The firm has established a centre of excellence for digitisation at its Limerick headquarters, which allows forensic analysis of projects at every stage. This helps deliver real benefits in terms of time and resources management, as well as creating opportunities to improve the final outcome for the client, and allows the Kirby team to further refine its offering on future projects.
Digitisation of projects also complements Kirby’s commitment to prefabrication and offsite manufacturing (OSM). The highly complex and intricate nature of a growing number of Kirby’s projects means the advanced level of control afforded by OSM is becoming an essential part of engineering works.
Group managing director at Kirby Mark Flanagan says it’s an exciting time for his team: “We’re determined to maintain our leading position in the industry and in how engineering projects should be carried out. We strive to do better for our clients, and the development of our technology offering is proof of that. Like so many businesses who have come through the past two years, we are more committed than ever to keeping ‘People’ as our number one core value. The world of work is changing, even in engineering, and we’re evolving with it, whether by exploiting the benefits of the cloud to help more people work remotely, or promoting gender balance, diversity and inclusion in our workplaces and the engineering industry as a whole. I firmly believe diversity makes us stronger and it’s a principle we’re embracing at Kirby.”
Kirby Group Engineering projects
Kirby’s portfolio of recent projects includes several large-scale data centres for confidential clients, as well as works for Edwards Lifesciences in Co Limerick and Zoetis in Co Offaly, amongst others. Within the HV/MV division, Kirby has recently delivered the Kelwin-2-Kerry battery storage project in Co Kerry and a number of electrical substations in Scotland.
Engineers Ireland CPD accreditation
In early 2022, Engineers Ireland (EI) awarded Kirby Group Engineering the CPD Accredited Employer Standard. The EI framework encourages and enables engineers to improve competency levels and helps deliver benefits for businesses. Kirby has also recently announced a corporate partnership with the Institution of Engineering and Technology, which is the world’s largest multidisciplinary body offering Engineering Council Registration. Both of these developments further highlight the company’s commitment to helping its people achieve their full potential as well as showcasing its talent to current and future clients.
