As we all know, the issue of poor quality buildings is continuing to make media headlines for all the wrong reasons.  As part of our drive to improve standards, we are holding this Breakfast Briefing for members to discuss typical problems that are occurring in apartment buildings regarding fire regulations.

The briefing will take place on Wednesday 11th November in CIF, Construction House, Canal Road, Dublin 6.  The briefing will run from approximately 7.45am to 9.00am. 

CPD – Those who attend the briefing will be eligible to claim 1 Structured CPD point under the CIRI CPD requirements.

Speakers for Breakfast Briefing

The two speakers bring a wealth of fire engineering and design knowledge. The presentations will cover the common design issues and discuss the potential preventative measures to prevent future issues.

Luke Fegan BA BAI PDIP FSP MA MSC FIRE ENG CENG MIEI MSFPE

Luke is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin with an honours degree in Structural & Civil Engineering, thereafter he focused on specialising in the field of Fire Safety Engineering, including a Post Graduate Diploma in Fire Safety Practice in TCD and a Masters in Fire

Safety Engineering in the University of Ulster. Luke is a Chartered Engineer with Maurice Johnson & Partners and has extensive professional design and site experience as Senior Fire Safety Engineer on many key national projects. He has been responsible for the delivery of buildings across a broad range of sectors including Healthcare, Commercial, Retail & Residential and Heritage Buildings.

He combines a deep technical understanding with a wealth of practical experience on site. Luke’s technical experience includes higher order fire engineering modelling with the successful application of computer modelling including computational fluid dynamics & evacuation modelling. Luke is the Partner at MJP in charge of delivery of Access Consultancy services for the Practice and has undertaken a post graduate course in accessibility with the

University of Ulster. To date Luke has worked on many of the largest commercial projects undertaken in recent times and highly sensitive heritage buildings and has collaborated closely with local authorities in deriving a design solution sensitive and cognisant of the buildings architectural considerations whilst ensuring accessibility and use for all.

Conall Finn C. Eng MIFireE

With over 12 years’ experience in the Construction Industry, Conall has held the role of Project Manager, Senior Engineer and Certifier for a wide variety of largescale multi-disciplinary projects. These projects include Dublin Airport T2 Retail Units, Dublin Port Tunnel and the Aviva Stadium. Conall is a Chartered Engineer with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Masters in Industrial Engineering. He holds the Membership grade in the Institution of Fire Engineers, as well as LPS1048 Sprinkler Inspector, Supervisor and Design Qualifications.
