MEIC and Glan Agua are the sister companies that form the MEIC Group. They were subsidiaries of the Mota-Engil Group, a multinational company with operations focused on construction and infrastructure management in the engineering, construction and environmental sectors, until their recent acquisition in Q3 2021 by BHSL, the rapidly growing environmental management company.
Glan Agua and MEIC were established in 2008 to operate in the water and wastewater sector. In 2017, Glan Agua also expanded to the UK.
Recent projects include Castletownbere WWTP, Mallow WWTP and Killala, Foxford and Charlestown Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTPs).
In the civils and building sector, projects include the Donabate distributor road for Fingal County Council, as well as design and build contracts for St Francis’ Special School Community College and Community Facility, Portlaoise; and Maynooth Educate Together National School.
In 2019, the group won the ICE ‘Civil Engineering’ award for the Kerry Central Water Treatment Plant. In 2021, the company was shortlisted for the Water Industry Awards ‘Outstanding Contribution to Environmental Improvement’ for its work with Irish Water on the National Pilot Scheme for Carlow Sludge Drying Reed Beds.
