The joint Electrical Contractors Association (ECA) and Mechanical Engineering & Building Services Contractors’ Association (MEBSCA) AGM took place recently at the Construction Industry Federation’s head office in Dublin, followed by the Mechanical & Electrical
Contractors Association (M&ECA) AGM.
At the ECA AGM, Colm Burke, Managing Director, Hyperscale Data Centres, Mercury, succeeded Tim Ferris, Managing Director, O’Shea’s Electrical Ltd, as president of the ECA. Joe Delaney, Managing Director, Tritech Engineering, continues his term as president of the MEBSCA and as chairman of the umbrella group M&ECA.
Ciaran King, General Manager, King & Moffatt takes over from Colm Burke as vice-president of the ECA.
Colm Burke thanked Tim Ferris for his commitment and dedication to the ECA during his presidential term, particularly for his work in the area of progressing the industry’s digital transition. He also outlined some of the other key areas he will be looking to address in the coming year.
“Tim has done an outstanding job in an important year for the industry when it made substantial progress in transitioning to being a modern digital-enabled construction sector.
“Looking at the year ahead, while the UK may have left the EU, it is still impossible to know what impact this will have on our supply chain framework. Skills shortages also remain a key issue that needs to be addressed. I look forward to working with the CIF executive, and other CIF bodies and sub-committees to devise solutions to address these issues.”
