BMD business update
BMD has experienced very strong in recent years, and this growth came via the significant capital projects it is delivering in the Leinster and Munster regions. The company has concentrated on hiring across all levels of the organisation, from construction managers, site and design engineering and QAs/QCs to commercial and administrative personnel, as well as all the levels of trades.
Despite the tight labour market, BMD has continued to recruit talented people into the company. One theme that comes through is that people want to be part of BMD’s growth path, to be part of a company that they can really contribute to and enjoy the work they do. BMD offers formal and tailored training courses, mentoring, and new hires will work within experienced teams while they learn their roles within our business.
Succession
After nearly 17 years as managing director of BMD, in 2022, Mike Walsh decided to start a new chapter in his life. He has led BMD through many significant milestones, leaving BMD in a solid position to continue to grow.
BMD recently announced the appointment of Kevin McCarthy, who joined BMD in 2017 and held a dual role of commercial and projects director, to the position of managing director, effective from June 2022. Kevin McCarthy and Mike Walsh have been working together over the past while to ensure a smooth transition.
Commenting on his appointment, Kevin McCarthy said: “I am excited to be taking on the role of managing director. It is an honour to lead this management team and staff, who do great work every day in support of our customers in delivering critical services to the life sciences, chemical and semiconductor industries.”
