First MPDI President from County Louth
“I am very proud to have been appointed President,” said Duff on his appointment, “especially as I am the first President from Dundalk and County Louth, and that our company is currently the only MPDI member from County Louth.”
Seamus Duff & Sons started business in 1975 and Damian began his career there as an apprentice in 1991, taking over from his father Seamus as Managing Director in 2011.
Focus on apprenticeships
“As President, I will be focusing on apprenticeships within the Painting and Decorating sector and the need to encourage more young people to enter the trade. I will also be encouraging entrants to train under the Solas Apprenticeship Scheme and where they will receive a formal City & Guilds qualification upon completion of their apprenticeship.
Working with MPDI Members
The new President will be looking to raise awareness amongst contractors about the importance of using MPDI member companies as well as further raising the Association’s public profile and engaging with suppliers on new initiatives for 2018.
Importance of CIRI
“I will also be highlighting the importance of contracting CIRI-registered painters and decorators as CIRI moves onto a statutory footing with Government.
“I would like to congratulate our outgoing President Mark Dilloughery on the wonderful job he did in the past two years of his presidency and wish him all the best in the future.”
